Did you know that some of the common houseplants yo umay have in your home could be toxic to your pets? How many times have you seen your dog or cat randomly chewing on the leaves of your plants?

If you think you are keeping your pets safe by keeping them away from known toxic agents like antifreeze, which will definitely kill them, you may be missing a threat to their health you wouldn't normally suspect!

Here are some common types of house plants that are toxic to animals:

    • Aloe vera
    • Dumbcane
    • German ivy
    • English ivy
    • Boston ivy
    • India rubber plant
    • Caladium
    • Mistletoe
    • Potted chrysanthemum
    • Philodendron
    • Weeping fig
    • Yew

That is just a small list of toxic plants, as there are many more than can be toxic to your pets or even small children (you would hope larger people would be smart enough not to eat house plants). You should be informed when it comes to your house plants. Know what type of plants you have, keep them out of reach of animals and little kids. You can read more information about toxic house plants so you will be able to identify a potential hazard to the healh of your pet.
