With a high percentage of pay cuts and even job cuts in this post-recession economy emptying office buildings by the dozen, it follows that companies selling mainly office supplies would also take a hit. The theories about the reason for Mona's famous smile are as diverse as the theories about Da Vinci's motive for painting it. A Renaissance genius, Da Vinci was certainly a man out of his time, but it doesn't mean he was a man of our time. Attempting to explain Da Vinci solely through our contemporary culture will bring some misleading and erroneous theories. There does seem to be a theory to satisfy every type of person, but for the rest of us, perhaps we'll just enjoy her smile and use it to inspire us to give away one of our own.
